GENERAL MANAGER
Based in Bryan, Ohio, the L.E. Smith Company is a family-owned business serving Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan. Ninety-plus associates support the L.E. Smith Company at our corporate office as well as branch locations in Cleveland, OH, & Elkhart, IN. The L.E. Smith Company has been servicing our customers' kitchen and bath needs since 1950. As a wholesale distributor of DuPontT Corian®, DuPontT Zodiaq®, and a manufacturer of custom laminate countertops, we pride ourselves on offering only the best brands and quality.The L.E. Smith Company is seeking an aggressive, experienced and dynamic leader. Our third generation CEO plans to hire an experienced executive, who has managed rapid growth, to work with the CEO to ensure that the company achieves its goals, builds a positive culture, and nurtures the development of strong executives.Among other essential functions, the General Manager will successfully:Guide and direct management in the development, production, promotion, and financial aspects of the organization's products and services.Direct the preparation of short-term and long-range plans and budgets based on broad corporate goals and growth objectives.Oversee executives who direct department activities that implement the organization's policies.Implement programs that meet corporate goals and objectives.Create the structure and processes necessary to manage the organization's current activities and its projected growth.Maintain a sound plan of corporate organization, establishing policies to ensure adequate management development and to provide for capable management succession.Develop and install procedures and controls to promote communication and adequate information flow within the organization, including but not limited to installation of metrics to drive profitability.Provide input and advice regarding design of hardware and software systems to assist in the smooth and efficient flow of information.Establish operating policies consistent with the CEO's broad policies and objectives and ensures their execution.Evaluate the results of overall operations regularly and systematically and report these results to the CEO.Ensure that the responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood.Ensure that all organization activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws governing business operations.Immediate Goals of Position:Become established in organization to understand all aspects of the business. Develop relationships with other members of the management team.Work with CEO and other senior managers to develop short-term and long-term plans.Assume responsibility for day-to-day duties to free CEO for more strategic focus.Required Experience Level: Four-year university program certificate; and minimum five years' related experience.Other preferences:Lean Manufacturing, Toyota Production System, Total Quality, and/or Six SigmaManufacturing / Distribution Software and strong computer skillsThe L.E.
